The project HumanShapes was brought to life from MeranoArt (which recommended to our arthotel the well-known artist’s for room design) in collaboration with the city communal of Merano. The first steps to create an open-air art gallery were made alongside the already idyllic and beautiful Passirio Promenade, which is situated a few steps from our Boutique Hotel ImperialArt in the city centre. The nascence of HumanShapes was motivated particularly from the idea to create a modern and artistic monument to those, who influenced our modern society. The plastic representation of the sculptures united with modern and contemporary expressional art supports a free interpretation and transforms a simple stroll along the Passirio Promenade in a cultural and artistic experience. The responsible for the realization of Antonio Manfredi’s (poet and painter ) HumanShape was the artist Aron Demetz, the sculpture of Ella Hellestainer, tourism pioneer of Tyrol, was created by the German artist Stephan Balkenhol and last but not least, artist Urs Lüthi brought to life the sculpture of famous writer Franz Kafka, that adores the beautiful Promenade. The first three personalities have been chosen in a collaboration with various town institutions, which wants to give more importance to the enrichment of the intellectual and cultural part of Merano. The purpose is, to increase the artistic and cultural consciousness of Merano and that’s why the project HumanShapes expands more and more, to create a beautiful open-air gallery of modern art in the heart of Merano.
