Others are already annoyed about hearing “Last christmas” all the time on the radio and hate seeing those colorful Christmas bulbs, whilst others get sparkling eyes by just thinking about the smell of gingerbread and cinnamon combined with beautiful Christmas lights all over the city. Well, apparently our girls from the Imperial Art staff are part of the second type of people. In our Christmas blog, they will reveal, what they love most about the Christmas time in Merano, what to do with the whole family at the Merano Christmas market and which culinary specialties you absolutely have to try.
Our manager Samantha is going crazy about the Christmas lights. She loves to watch them sparkle every night. “For me there is nothing better in the world than staying under that special, glittering light and drinking a hot cup of vin brûlé. Doing this I feel extremely festive and can’t wait for Christmas.” This year she is very excited about the guided city visits with lanterns. “Who knows, what my favorite places in Merano will look like in this very special and unique light.”
Our Receptionist Marion and her kids are also big fans of the Christmas lights and they are going crazy for the cinnamon smell all through Merano. “Our favorite place in the City during the frozen time is the ice skating rink in the piazza Therme. The kids love to have fun on the ice while my husband and I enjoy a cup of vin brûlé. For our kids also the train ride with the Christmas train to the small and cute Christmas village in Lagundo can never be missing. They love it there!”
Waitress Iveta also loves to stay in the piazza Therme, but she’s afraid of ice skating, so she prefers to watch the other people have fun while drinking a cup of vin brûlé. “Do you know where you can get the best vin brûlé in the city? It is not on the Christmas market, but you get it in the Hotel Europa Splendid. Every year they have a Christmas lounge in front of the hotel where you can sit down on fluffy and comfortable chairs next to a bonfire and enjoy your time with friends. I love it there.
Our new Receptionist Stefanie thinks that the best things about Christmas is the food, everything from gingerbread to roasted almonds. “Last year on the Christmas market was a market stand from Hungary, and they sold some kind of flatbread with potatoes, bacon, onions and cheese. They tasted amazing. In addition, there was this huge Christmas tree in front of the bank and on the side; they had a little table with paper and pens. Everyone could write down their biggest wish for Christmas and hang it on the tree. It was really impressive and touched my heart reading those wishes.”
